“The manner in which the black populations developed in America and how they developed in the Caribbean are totally different. The black music of America developed in a very bluesy way, a very sad way; the music of the Caribbean, there is more happiness in that. The blues is something that doesn’t exist in our culture. There is no such thing as a Latin version of a Negro spiritual, for example, in the Caribbean. You can find in the Indian music of the Andes for example, that type of sad feeling. We don’t have the blues—I learned the blues”.

Esta semana se cumplieron 20 años de la caída del muro de Berlín. Hago los honores y comparto mi versión preferida del tema de Pink Floyd, interpretado por Roger Waters y asociados. ¿Lo valioso? Los últimos meses he leído mucho el blog de Martín Sassone, en el que hace excelentes recomendaciones de Blues. Retomé el género y hallé cosas muy buenas. Entre ellas, ésta que les recomiendo con los grandes Stevie Ray Vaughan y Jeff Beck. Como dicen, ¡trépenle!
